Who am I and Why am I writing this?

Hi, I’m Stephen Campbell and I’ve been involved with small technology businesses for the past 20+ years, the majority those years as an owner.

During that time I’ve had the opportunity to work with a number of great partners in six different companies, twice running multiple small companies simultaneously.

I get jazzed by launching and growing small businesses.  It’s incredibly exciting to see an idea become a product, to see that product find customers, and to see those customers write checks that allow you to operate your business profitably.

Starting a small business requires a certain set of skills that many people who have worked for larger corporations may not possess yet.  In fact I found that I did not possess many of the skills necessary to succeed in some of these businesses.  But… a big part of the fun is to  learn the necessary skills and to use them grow your business.

Over the past 20 years I’ve had some pretty good ideas and some pretty lame ones.  I’ve had some quick successes and some businesses that have not yet been able to achieve the success I expected.   I’ve learned a few things during those years and I’ll try and share some of  them here.
